The key to a world class workforce and pioneering research

Aalborg University is best in Europe within Energy Research and among the highest ranked engineering universities in Europe. One of the research missions of the university is defined as Renewable Energy Generation and Energy Islands.

The research mission is working to increase the share of renewables and the guarantee of security of supply through a reliable grid integration of large solar and wind parks and other prosumers.

Case: Liftra

When Per Fenger couldn’t find the specialists he needed in his job at the time, he decided to create them himself. That decision - made in a small back room on Danmarksgade - became the starting point for Liftra, a company that today employs more than 700 people and develops lifting and transport equipment for wind turbines worldwide.

The most experienced blade test center in the world, Blaest is residing at the port of Aalborg. Blaest has mastered static and fatigue testing of blades as well as modal analysis and as an independent company the centre is testing blades from leading manufacturers from all around the world.
