Aalborg University is awarded the best engineering university in Europe and one of the research missions of the university is defined as Renewable Energy Generation and Energy Islands.

The research mission is working to increase the share of renewables and the guarantee of security of supply through a reliable grid integration of large solar and wind parks and other prosumers. The projects within the mission are focused on the increase of efficiency of generation and storage and the development of solutions with high scalability, reliability and adaptability.

The most experienced blade test center in the world, Blaest is residing at the port of Aalborg. Blaest has mastered static and fatigue testing of blades as well as modal analysis and as an independent company the centre is testing blades from leading manufacturers from all around the world.
