The Idea Clinic
The mission of the Idea Clinic is to support the development and realization of health innovative solutions that benefit staff, patients, and citizens - both locally, nationally, and internationally.
This can be anything from treatment-related medical equipment to other products and systems that can optimize clinical work; for example, improving a work environment, changing clinical processes, decision support, streamlining diagnostics and monitoring, or something completely different.
This is done by processing and contributing to the development of submitted ideas, problems, and inventions. Submissions can come from all corners of the healthcare system, such as from employees, healthcare professionals (clinicians, researchers, nurses, etc.), patients, relatives, as well as other actors and stakeholders.
Aalborg is 22nd among the World’s Best Smart Hospitals
Aalborg's Medtech and Life Science industry provides business opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors worldwide. Aalborg is 22nd among the World’s Best Smart Hospitals and 7th among the European facilities.
Newsweek and Statista have developed a list of hospitals that best avail themselves of the most advanced technologies. The World's Best Smart Hospitals 2023 ranks the facilities that lead in their use of AI, digital imaging, telemedicine, robotics, and electronic functionalities.
Aalborg has proven how these new technologies can improve care delivery and efficiencies - and how a data-driven approach can enhance prevention, population health and quality of life for patients in the whole region.
Aalborg leading the way in Robotics Surgery
Robotic surgery is the future of surgery, and Aalborg is at the forefront of this technology. Aalborg's Hospital has invested in advanced robotic surgical systems, making it possible to perform complex surgeries with greater precision and less invasive techniques.
Doctors from all over Europe travel to North Denmark for training at Aalborg University Hospital where they have a center for Robotic Surgery. It was the first of its kind in the Nordic countries when it opened in 2020.
Robotic Surgery can often perform a more gentle and precise procedure which can reduce blood loss and tissue damage as well as shorten the patient's hospital stay.
Trial Nation
In Denmark it is a priority to continue to be best-in-class when it comes to clinical trials – this means investing in a strong public-private ecosystem. As a result, Trial Nation was established in 2018.
Trial Nation offers a single national entry point for Life Science companies, patient organizations and clinical researchers wishing to sponsor, participate in, and conduct clinical trials in Denmark.
In North Denmark, companies are supported by Trial Nation’s local, regional contact persons placed in Aalborg. This service ensures one regional entry point to clinical trials with updated information on local infrastructure as well as development and trends in medical technology, artificial intelligence, and clinical trials.
Trial Nation contributes substantially to Denmark’s position as the leading public-private ecosystem for clinical trials in Europe – to the benefit of patients, research and the economy.
