Aalborg is a young star in space business
Aalborg is a city located in North Denmark and to some people's surprise, this is home to many leading space and satellite companies. Despite its relatively small size, Aalborg has played a significant role in the development of the European space industry.

AAU Space Group
The AAU Space Group was established in 2021, as a group for the strong interdisciplinary skills located at Aalborg University. Creating new knowledge and new collaborations - both between members and with industry partners - is the purpose of this group, which gathers interdisciplinary knowledge and resources. The interdisciplinary cooperation includes:

• Communication (5G/6G – Antennas)
• Orbit Prediction
• Swarms (CubeSat)
• Drones
• International CubeSat Communication
Leading Space and Satellite Companies in Aalborg
Several leading space and satellite companies have their headquarters in Aalborg. These companies have been involved in different missions with ESA European Space Agency and American space company, SpaceX .
The following are some of the companies that have contributed significantly to the Danish space industry:
Sternula is the world's first commercial provider of satellite-based AIS 2.0, also known as VHF Data Exchange System (VDES). AIS 2.0 (VDES) is designed to enable communication between the ship bridge and shore.

GomSpace is a globally leading designer, integrator, and manufacturer of high-end nanosatellites for customers in the academic, government and commercial markets.
The solutions include systems integration, nanosatellite subsystems and advanced miniaturized radio technology.
Space Inventor is a satellite engineering company set up by a team of some of the most experienced nano-satellite engineers and entrepreneurs in the industry on the belief that nano-satellites needed to take a big leap towards greater reliability and greater responsibility in relation to the customers and stakeholders.
